Movistar Yamaha rider Jorge Lorenzo edged reigning MotoGP champion Marc Marquez by a mere three thousandths of a second to top the second free practice session at the Indianapolis Grand Prix. Lorenzo, who was 0.093s faster than Marquez in the first free practice session, finished with a time of 1:32.860s, while Marquez just fell agonisingly short with a time of 1:32.863s. Lorenzo and Marquez were level with a time of 1:32.863s towards the end of their session. However, Lorenzo claimed top honours after recording a faster time late in the session.
