Marquez grabs pole at Austin
Reigning world champion Marc Marquez captured pole position for the MotoGP Grand Prix of the Americas on Saturday, clocking the fastest qualifying time in Austin for the third straight year. The Spaniard, gunning for a third straight win in Texas after winning the two prior editions of the race on the Circuit of the Americas, put his Honda at the front of the grid with a fast lap of 2min 2.135sec. Italian Ducati rider Andrea Dovizioso was second quickest in 2:02.474 and Spanish Yamaha rider Jorge Lorenzo (Yamaha) was third-fastest in 2:02.540. Marquez, 22, captured the pole despite having to hurriedly swap bikes in the waning minutes of the second qualifying session. AFP
