Suzuki Ecstar rider Maverick Vinales topped the practice times for the German Grand Prix on Friday, putting in a 1:22.161, with just one rider, Andrea Iannone, able to get within half a second of the Spaniard. Ducati's Iannone ended up two-tenths off, with Marc Marquez third, more than six-tenths adrift for the Honda team. The session saw a slow start with little action until Yamaha Tech 3's Bradley Smith headed out, followed by Valentino Rossi five minutes later.
