Andrea Dovizioso underlined the progress made by Ducati over the winter as the Italian rider blasted to pole position for Sunday's Qatar MotoGP. Dovizioso posted the fastest lap of the weekend so far on the new GP15 machine in 1m 54.113s at Losail, knocking Repsol Honda's Dani Pedrosa off the top spot in the dying seconds. Pedrosa was 0.217s adrift on the RC213V while world champion Marc Marquez completes the front row, 0.317s behind the Ducati of Dovizioso after a lap in 1m 54.437s. Marquez appeared to be on course for pole before losing time through the final section but had to settle for the last place on row one in the end.
