Lorenzo fastest in FP1
Movistar Yamaha Rider Jorge Lorenzo shrugged off his shoulder injury to set the pace in the first free practice session at Motegi on Friday. Lorenzo, who injured his shoulder in a minibike accident last Saturday, initially trailed teammate Valentino Rossi after the 36-year-old veteran recorded a time of 1m46.265s. But, Lorenzo bettered his time twice in the last 10 minutes, eventually finishing with 1m 45.654s, while Rossi had the third-fastest time with 1m 45.844s. Ducati rider Andrea Iannone left it late to record a time of 1m45.827s and finish 0.395 seconds behind Lorenzo. Tech 3's Bradley Smith shot up to fourth with a time of 1m 45.888s, which was just enough to see off Repsol Honda...
