Yamaha Factory Racing Team rider Pol Espargaro was quickest in Thursday's first practice sessions for the Suzuka 8 Hours endurance race. Sharing a machine with Tech 3 MotoGP teammate Bradley Smith and Yamaha test rider Katsuyuki Nakasuga, Espargaro took put down a time of 2m 7.282s which was nearly one second faster than the Moriwaki Honda team. Smith and Nakasuga were also fast like teammate Espargaro by lapping in the 2m 7s.
